Plant tissue culture often involves different stages, each with different requirements.

The InVitro Garden Aroid Medium Set brings together all three formulations in the Aroid Media Series, giving you a convenient starting point for working through the complete in-vitro propagation workflow.

Designed for Aroids

The formulations are designed as general starting formulations for commonly propagated aroids, including:

Monstera · Philodendron · Alocasia · Anthurium · Epipremnum

Plant response can vary depending on species, cultivar, explant type and culture conditions.

The formulations should therefore be considered general-purpose starting formulations rather than species-specific protocols.

· Aroid Establishment Medium

An MS-based medium formulated as a general starting formulation for the establishment stage of aroid tissue culture.

MS + vitamins · Sucrose · BAP

· Aroid Multiplication Medium

A pre-formulated medium designed for the multiplication stage of established cultures.

MS + vitamins · Sucrose · BAP · NAA

· Aroid Rooting Medium

A half-strength MS-based formulation designed as a general starting point for the rooting stage.

½-strength MS + vitamins · Sucrose · IBA

Preparation 

Recipe for 1 liter finished solution:

1. Measure 34.5g of aroid media. (22.2g for rooting medium)
2. Add 800ml of distilled/deionized water, dissolve thoroughly
   
3. Adjust pH to 5.6-5.8 pH, use pH buffer for higher/lower pH. (pH meter recommended)
4. Slowly add 7-9g of agar if a solid medium is desired, heat to dissolve.
5. Fill the remaining 200ml for a total volume of 1L medium.
6. When fully dissolved, pour in to culture jars and sterilize the prepared medium using an autoclave/pressure cooker.
7. Allow the medium to cool before introducing plant material.

This recipe is based on achieving 1 liter of finished media solution. If less/more is desired, make sure to adjust all ingredients accordingly.
