A pre-formulated medium designed for the multiplication stage of aroid tissue culture.
Combining MS nutrients, vitamins, sucrose, BAP and NAA in one convenient formulation for growers working with established cultures.
Multiply your cultures.
Once plant material has successfully established in vitro, the next stage is multiplication.
Aroid Multiplication Medium is formulated as a general starting medium for this stage of the tissue culture process.
Just like the Establishment formulation, the Multiplication Medium contains MS nutrients and vitamins with sucrose, but has a higher BAP concentration for shoot growth and also includes NAA for early root induction. Still eliminating the need to individually measure these components when preparing the medium.
Designed for Aroids
Developed as a general starting formulation for commonly propagated aroids, including:
Monstera · Philodendron · Alocasia · Anthurium · Epipremnum
Different species and cultivars can respond differently to the same formulation. Culture conditions and explant characteristics can also influence results.
When should I use Multiplication Medium?
This formulation is intended for the multiplication stage, following successful establishment of the culture.
The objective of this stage is to develop additional plant material/plantlets that can subsequently be transferred into a rooting stage.

| Component | Concentration |
|---|---|
| MS + vitamins | 4.5 g/L |
| Sucrose | 30 g/L |
| BAP | 2.0 mg/L |
| NAA | 0.1 mg/L |
The formulation is supplied as a dry powder.
Agar is not included. [Agar→]
Preparation
Recipe for 1 liter finished solution:
- Measure 34.5g of aroid media. (22.2g for rooting medium)
- Add 800ml of distilled/deionized water, dissolve thoroughly
- Adjust pH to 5.6-5.8, use pH buffer fot higher/lower pH. (Recommend having pH meter).
- Slowly add 7-8g of agar if a solid medium is desired, heat to dissolve.
- Fill the remaining 200ml for a total volume of 1L medium.
- When fully dissolved, pour in to culture jars and sterilize the prepared medium using an autoclave/pressure cooker.
- Allow the medium to cool before introducing plant material.
This recipe is based on achieving 1 liter of finished media solution. If less/more is desired, make sure to adjust all ingredients accordingly.
Always follow the preparation instructions supplied with the product.
